Family recipes are truly special, especially those passed down through generations. Today, I’m thrilled to share a treasure from my grandmother’s kitchen – her secret Black Pepper Chicken recipe. This dish perfectly balances spicy, savory, and aromatic flavors that warm the soul and bring back memories of cozy family dinners. My grandmother always made this for special occasions; it was everyone’s favorite. The way she infused the tender chicken with the sharp, earthy flavor of black pepper is nothing short of magic. Now, I’m excited to pass this beloved recipe on to you, hoping it brings as much joy to your table as it has to ours.
Grandma's Special Black Pepper Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 chicken breast
2 chopped onions
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
2 tablespoons crushed black pepper
3 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon tomato paste
3 cups chicken stock
25 ml fresh cream
salt (according to taste)
Procedure
1. Season chicken breast with salt.
2. Heat oil in a skillet and add chicken breast. Sauté chicken on both sides till cooked color should be golden.
3. Heat a little better in a separate skillet. Add chopped onion & chopped garlic. Cook for some time without letting brown.
4. Add flour and cook on low heat till it becomes golden. Stir continuously.
5. Now add crushed black pepper. Cook for another 02 minutes.
6. Add tomato paste. Cook for another 03 minutes.
7. Add chicken stock. Add cooked chicken breast and leave on simmering for 05 minutes.
8. Adjust seasoning.
9. Add fresh cream. Serve with boiled vegetables or boiled rice.
SECRET TIPS
- Spice Level: I adjust the amount of black pepper based on my mood. Sometimes I crave high levels and sometimes low. Feel free to adjust according to your taste too.
- Add Vegetables: Feel free to add your favorite vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, or whatever you love.
- Cook in Batches: When using a small skillet or doubling the recipe, cook in batches to prevent overcrowding, which can cause the chicken to steam instead of sear.
Serve black pepper chicken with steamed rice, stir-fried noodles, sautéed vegetables, or even you can use the vegetables and black chicken pepper as a filling for wrap, which I love the most.
